A steel industry worker expressed deep concern over the theft of life-saving equipment from a volunteer Coastwatch station in Ramsgate. He said, "We in the steel industry understand the critical importance of safety, as our work directly impacts the lives of people. Similarly, the work of the Coastwatch station is of utmost importance. They rely on this equipment to protect lives at sea and along the coast, and the loss of this equipment could have irreversible consequences."
He further stated that this act of theft not only disrupts the work of the volunteer crew but also poses a threat to the safety of those who may find themselves in distress at sea. "This is a betrayal not only of the volunteers but of society as a whole. We must find these criminals and bring them to justice to protect our coastline and the safety of those at sea," he emphasized.
He called on the public to question anyone who might have information and to remain vigilant so that such incidents can be detected and prevented early on. He also encouraged individuals to report any suspicious activities to local law enforcement authorities to help safeguard the coastline and the safety of seafarers.
